Associate Director of Lifecycle Marketing

In this position, you will be the operations lead for the Lifecycle team and strategic lead for email and SMS campaigns where Lifecycle supports key company initiatives. You will work with all members of the Lifecycle team and cross-functionally with Brand, Technology, Analytics, Operations and other teams to plan, execute, test and analyze campaigns to retain our customers. You will also advance our email operations, enabling more data driven, personalized campaigns at scale. This role reports to the Director of Retention Marketing.


Be strategic lead for company key projects that require email and SMS support, i.e. product launches, promotions, etc. Work with Brand and Operations and create campaign plans including number and timing of messages, segmentation and testing strategy, to produce outcomes that meet or exceed company objectives and customer-retention objectives.
Plan quarterly email and SMS calendar including Lifecycle-led campaigns like strategic customer-retention campaigns, triggered email optimization, promotions for existing customers and newsletters, in addition to the key-project emails.
Work with Project Manager to scope and Gantt out the work, identify shortages in resources and find solutions or prioritize highest-value projects.
Manage a team of marketing and production staff: delegate work, oversee the entire production process from ticket creation and creative briefs through to deployment and analysis. Review campaign creatives for alignment with strategy.
Manage ESP software platform (Iterable) and vendor relationship: leveraging the platform to its maximum value, enlist professional services as needed, manage data quality for API feeds in and out of the platform.
Plan, execute and analyze A/B tests on blast and triggered campaigns to continuously optimize conversion rates, Revenue-Per-Email, subscription adoption rates, churn rates, etc.
Lead any Lifecycle projects that are complex and require a senior lead. 
Migrate and manage transactional autoresponder emails from our ecommerce platform to Iterable so they can be tracked, tested and optimized.
Produce or delegate weekly A/B test reports and monthly email & SMS reports, analyzing campaign data to draw insights and recommendations to share with the Lifecycle and Brand teams. Nurture your staff to draw their own insights for campaigns they own.
Improve production processes, i.e. ticket standardization, SLAs, automation of manual efforts, streamline campaign reporting, leverage dynamic-content capabilities in Iterable to personalize emails at scale.


5+ years' CRM and email marketing experience, at least 3 years of which with an ecommerce business.
Experience in campaign planning, calendaring, general project management
Experience managing staff and developing their skills.
Solid understanding of email software providers (ESPs) including campaign automation, data feeds in and out, and segmentation queries. Experience with Iterable an asset but not required.
Basic understanding of HTML and scripting languages for personalized content.
Experience designing A/B and cohort tests.
Proficiency with Excel, analytics platforms like Tableau or Sisense, and analytical skills to interpret campaign data, draw insights, formulate new strategies from those insights, and present recommendations.
Self-starter who can develop and execute email program strategy with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in fast-paced environment, adapt to change and effectively prioritize and multitask.
Passion for CRM software and leveraging data to create relevant, personalized communications.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, ease interacting with staff of all professional levels.
Experience with SMS, direct mail, retention paid social are assets but not required.
